Tureis - For Soundbox
A felt piano, reimagined into beautiful ambient soundscapes
Building on the success of Tureis for Kontakt, Iāve now recreated Tureis for the free Soundbox player.
Tureis is an Instrument close to my heart, featuring three deeply evocative presets perfect for creating emotional ambient soundscapes.
I created Tureis using our beloved Yamaha U1 upright felt piano, an instrument that has been part of our family for many years. Renowned for its rich, resonant sound and impeccable craftsmanship, the Yamaha U1 is a favorite among pianists for its expressive, warm tonal quality and responsive touch. Situated in the middle of our lounge, it's always ready to be played, filling our home with music and memories.
To capture the essence of Tureis, I recorded single notes and phrases with two microphones positioned just 15cm above the hammers, with the felt pedal engaged. I then set about recording the intimate, warm sounds that make this piano so special.
Back at my editing station, I carefully segmented and chopped the recordings, then experimented with time-stretching (by 300-500 times), reversing, and resampling. This process turned those precious recordings into the unique samples that now breathe life into Tureis.
Tureis for Soundbox features three stunning ambient soundscape presets, each with a unique variation - six presets in total. With their warm, emotional tones, these presets are perfect for crafting expansive ambient pads.
Please note that Tureis is not a traditional playable sampled piano instrument. I have not sampled each and every note separately. Instead, Tureis is an instrument that generates ambient pads and atmospheres, using the sounds sampled from the upright felt piano.
Tureis is more than just an ambient soundscape instrument - it's a sonic journey. Each preset blends chords and single notes, morphing into lush, evolving soundscapes. Designed for depth and movement, itās perfect for those seeking immersive, ever-changing textures. If youāre after straightforward, single-note pads, Tureis might not be your match but if you love sounds that unfold and transport, this is for you!
The Soundbox interface makes it easy to shape your sound. Each layer is fully adjustable with ADSR, effects, modulation, arpeggiator, and a versatile vector pad for morphing through layers with various vector shapes. Plus, you can quickly tweak volume, panning, and solo/mute layers on the main page, giving you total control to sculpt the soundscapes to suit your project. Once you've perfected your setup, save your unique presets using the intuitive and easy to use browser.
Adding new packs to Soundbox is a breeze! Head to the User Sounds menu, enter the preset and pack manager, click Import, and select the downloaded Soundbox Pack (.sbpack file) and you're done!
Important: Kompose Audio Soundbox packs work fully with the Soundbox player, except for the Sample & Mapping editor, which is for importing and editing your own sounds. To unlock this feature, enter the license key from any Audiomodern Soundbox instrument in the settings tab. Once unlocked, it stays active forever and includes free lifetime updates.
